If they show up on the "major countries" list under diplomacy they are a major. So what exactly makes a country a major? When I invaded Italy the war justification time was still days. I don't know of a way to do it faster than that. Good candidates are Sweden or Brasil, but sometimes in peace deals you can't annex one particular country in the enemy faction and it becomes the new faction leader, making it a major in my Persian WC it was Mongolia.įascist countries get increased war justify time when fighting a major, so I just DOWed Mongolia and left a garrison surrounding it while I cleaned up all the other tags one month at a time.
When you go for a WC you generally save a possible major that stays neutral. If I remember correctly I had something like 80 subjects by the end of the game in my French campaign. It doesn't matter if you declare war on them but don't start fighting immediately, a lot of those nations won't be any kind of threat to you at that late game. Best thing I can suggest is to start pushing for them earlier.
